Session #43 - A Different Kind of Poker

So Thursday I was in Vancouver for work and I had an hour to kill before I caught the ferry back to Victoria and figured I would stop in at the River Rock Casino for some quick action. Surprise, surprise they were operating at less than full capacity (they have 25 tables and 10 were empty) probably because they didn't schedule the staff to cover them and hence there was a 20 deep waiting list. No poker for me.

So I went downstairs and played a half hour of four card poker. I don't usually play casino table games because there is zero chance you can win over the long run but I was bored. Four Card Poker is where you get five cards and the dealer gets six and you each have to make your best four card poker hand. That sixth card gives the house a MASSIVE edge but I ended up getting pretty lucky. I made several straights and one flush and I was betting $10 on the bonus button so I got 6-to-1 and 7-to-1 on my bonus several times and in half an hour ended up taking $150 off the table.
