Session #46 - You Get the Meat Tray!

Went and played for the afternoon today. From 12 bells right up until 3:00. I was doing pretty good at one point, had my stack up to $280 from a $100 buy-in but I ran into a couple of big pot hands that didn't pan out.

One hand that earlier led me to my initial big stack was me sitting on the button with Kd-10d and it got capped pre-flop with six in the hand. I had a backdoor flush draw with 2nd pair so I stayed in for another capped round that saw four to the turn. The turn was a diamond rag which I'm sure didn't help anyone but gave me the 2nd nut flush draw. Two big bets with all four in and the river is a diamond. There's a straight flush possible on the board but it got checked around to me on the button with a heavy sigh from the aggressor and a muttered "you gotta be fucking kidding me" when I bet out so I knew I was golden and sure enough I get two payoffs and I raked a sweet pot.

The funniest hand of the night came with me in second-to-last position with 9d-10d and the flop comes down Qd-Jd-x and I flopped an open-ended straight flush draw. I call one bet and then smooth call a raise and re-raise and the turn is the beautiful miracle card 8d giving me the stone cold nuts. I smooth call again because I want the trailer to stay in since the better was short stacked. The river is meaningless and the short stack bets his last dollar which gives me the chance to raise the trailer and he calls with his trips. The funny part of it is as I'm laying my cards out I yell over my shoulder to another player that he wins the meat tray. The owner had these deli meat and cheese trays that he was giving away to whoever held the high hand with quads or better and got beat.

You had to be there but it was pretty funny.
